SAY HELLO!

When Kathleen was a Senator for North Tipperary, she brought her vision, creativity and sheer determination to persuade the Minister and the Government to fund the rehabilitation of a number of polluted former mine sites around Silvermines, including the Gortmore Tailings Pond, which had become a major environmental hazard. She saw a problem that needed solving and brought all her skills to the table in pursuit of a solution.

In particular she made a compelling case for public investment to politicians, state agencies, civil servants and the Minister, resulting in a programme of rehabilitation which has successfully restored our precious environment to us.

Kathleen played a key role in the research and development of “Small Hospital, Big Service”, a key report in the campaign to secure the future of our services. She had a deep insight and understanding of the dynamic of a locally-based group facing the considerable power of the health establishment, and the financial muscle of government, and regardless of such substantial obstacles, she ensured that we were heard. She is an ally of substance and consequence in any such situation.
